St Mary’s Welcomes Primary Schools to Sports Leaders Ambassador Day

On Wednesday, 108 pupils (from 26 primary schools) joined our UV Sports Leaders for the Sports Leaders Ambassador Day.

Workshops took place throughout the day centred around leadership skills with the objective of teaching the Year 5 and 6 pupils new skills to take back to their respective schools. The day qualified the primary pupils to be Bronze Ambassadors allowing them to be leaders during break and lunchtime activities and also supporting learning in lessons with younger pupils.

Thinus Delport, Springbok and Coaching Mentor for the Youth Sport Trust, was the special guest. He led a workshop and spoke about his rugby career, saying one of the highlights was “scoring a try against the All Blacks.”

All the pupils enjoyed the day and learnt many important skills. One member of sports staff from a visiting school said, “It was a very well run day. The Sports Leaders have been absolutely amazing. Thank you for inspiring our Year 5 and 6 children.”
