St Mary’s Boarding Community & Military Families Come Together For Remembrance Service

Last Sunday, boarders, staff and some of St Mary’s military families came together for a special Remembrance service in the school chapel. Mrs Bowe led the service, with those girls from forces families reading poems and readings. Our military families laid wreaths including a handmade wreath made of poppies. The names of men who died in active service, who had connections with St Mary’s families, were read out. The chapel was decorated with a wonderful display of 100 felted poppies, which were made by military children, staff and girls in the school textiles club, to represent the centenary year of the Armistice.

It was a lovely opportunity for the St Mary’s boarding community to come together, with our military families, and commemorate such a significant and poignant event.
