Sixth Form Information Day

Last week’s Sixth Form Taster Day was very successful with St Mary’s UV girls and prospective pupils getting a chance to sample subjects they are considering studying for A levels.

Throughout the day, girls went to a series of lessons with A level teachers, getting a real insight into A level content and how it is taught. Alumnae, Ingrid Clover and Sophie Geike-Cobb, joined the girls for a sit down buffet lunch and spoke about their experience of St Mary’s being, “the happiest educational days of my life.”

Later, the girls were joined by their parents for a subject fair in the Hall where they were able to discuss A level combinations in more detail. Headmistress, Maria Young, and Dr Enos, Deputy Head Academic, talked to parents about the benefits of sixth form at St Mary’s and head girl, Cicely Willis spoke about the social life of the sixth form.

Parents and girls were then given a tour of Mary Ward, the stand-alone sixth form boarding house.

St Mary’s prides itself on offering sixth-formers a wide range of A level subject choices, taught in small classes. This enables the staff to get to know pupils on a personal level and, importantly, offers girls that all important one-on-one support throughout these last two years of their education at St Mary’s.
