House Shout 2018

On Wednesday 24th January we celebrated Mary Ward Day. This is the day when we remember Mary Ward, whose educational and spiritual ethos are the very foundations of our school.  In keeping with her philosophy on endeavour – “Do what you do, that is apply yourself diligently to the work you have in hand, to perform it carefully and perfectly” –  it was decided that holding our very first House Shout was fitting tribute.

Each House was to perform a senior solo, a junior solo, a House song and an ensemble piece. The girls and their housemistresses put much thought into choosing entertaining pieces and after hours of rehearsals, the girls performed their pieces to the rest of the school and a small panel of judges, Mr Harris and Penny Clements, Director of Music at Cobham Hall School.

Dressed to fit with the theme of the day – festivals – the girls took the stage. The standard was exceptionally high, making the judges’ decision even more difficult but after much deliberation York House were chosen as the deserving winners. Congratulations girls!
