Dorset County Netball Tournament

Last Thursday, the U14 Netball Squad travelled to Canford to compete in the Dorset County Tournament, where 12 schools of the county’s top schools compete for a place at the South West regional competition.

The team were fired up and raring to go, with Alice and Poppy in the shooting circle who have made impressive progress over the last two weeks with their strategies and tactics around the circle, Charlotte stepped up to be the full time Wing Attack and worked extremely well with Fleur in centre court and Ioana, Munashe and Immy made interception after interception creating opportunities from defence into attack. Our super subs, Penny, Sophia and Amelia, were extremely supportive to the team and were ready to step on at any moment.

We came up against Canford, Lytchett, Woodroffe, Talbot Heath and Beaminster and the girls played with steely determination, however, the way it can be with tournaments we came away losing 3 and winning 2, although every game was end to end and could have gone either way. As a smaller school, we are extremely proud of the girl’s achievements as they demonstrated superb skills, decision making and creative thinking, which we are looking forward to developing even further over the next few seasons. As the girls said themselves, ‘there’s always next year!’
